Brocade SilkWorm 3250 entry fabric switch
The entry-level Brocade® SilkWorm® 3250 entry fabric switch combines an eight-port architecture with high-speed switch performance at up to two gigabits per second per port, for a total of 32 gigabits per second of aggregate Fibre Channel throughput. It’s the ideal starting point for small SAN deployments for organizations that need to migrate away from direct-attached storage (DAS).

Backup and restore
Put the SilkWorm 3250 fabric switch at the center of a storage area network (SAN) to leverage the backup and restore effort across several applications, reducing costs and simplifying management.

Disaster recovery
Use the SilkWorm 3250 fabric switch as the primary building block in a complete disaster recovery SAN infrastructure with clustering/fail-over, remote data vaulting and backup and restore functions.

Storage consolidation
Centralize all business-critical information in a single SAN location for simpler management and more effective data protection.

Disk mirroring
Protect data, keep it available and simplify the management of local and remote mirroring systems with disk SANs employing the SilkWorm 3250 fabric switch.

BenefitsTop

Cost-effective deployment
Entry-level pricing provides an affordable foundation for smaller SAN deployments, SAN islands, NAS back ends or as an edge switch in a core-to-edge enterprise SAN.

Entry-level architecture
An eight-port architecture allows you to start small with a two-switch fabric and migrate at any time to a full-fabric enterprise SAN using other Brocade switches and directors.

High availability
Hot code activation, automatic path rerouting and extensive diagnostics help you avoid downtime and meet high-availability requirements.

Simplified SAN management
Core and edge switches are networked under Brocade Fabric OS, an embedded real-time operating system that enables heterogeneous device connectivity, automatic data routing and rerouting, self-healing capabilities and scalable connectivity.

Scalable growth
Pay-as-you-grow architecture means you can configure – and reconfigure – a right-sized SAN fabric where all available resources are in use, where no ports are wasted.

Compatibility made easy
Auto-sensing one- and two-gigabit-per-second interfaces provide seamless forward and backward compatibility with Brocade SAN fabrics.

Flexible integration
Supports Windows, UNIX, Linux, Solaris and AIX platforms for greater flexibility and compatibility when building cost-effective, easy-to-manage SANs.

FeaturesTop

Eight-port auto-sensing architecture
This eight-port, one- and two-gigabit per second auto-sensing fabric switch significantly increases performance and functionality for small-to-medium-sized SANs.

Brocade Fabric Shortest Path First (FSPF)
FSPF automatically isolates problems and reroutes traffic around failed links to keep data flowing using alternate paths.

Brocade Secure Fabric OS
Comprehensive networking security technology addresses a wide variety of vulnerabilities within the SAN fabric. It’s built right into the SilkWorm 3250 ASIC technology to optimize SAN security, scalability and manageability.

High-availability technology
Redundant hot-swappable components keep the system up even if individual parts go down. Network health monitoring, advanced performance monitoring, error detection with fault isolation and other features accelerate troubleshooting and help keep data available.

Multi-vendor support
Seamless integration with existing fabrics supports heterogeneous SAN environments that include Windows 2000 and NT, UNIX, Linux, HPUX, Solaris, AIX and others.
