FlexLine 600 Series storage systems

The StorageTek FlexLine 600 Series, the next generation capacity-centric platform of choice for ILM solutions, delivers low-touch management, peerless reliability, and the highest efficient capacity available in order to drastically reduce storage costs and mitigate the business risk associated with capturing, protecting and retrieving mission critical data.

FlexLine™ 600 Series storage systems are disk-based data management solutions that include hardware consisting of controllers and disk arrays, as well as integrated software to manage and control the system. It designed specifically to provide excellence in data protection and cost-effective online storage for archive and fixed content information.

FlexLine 600 Series storage systems are an extension of StorageTek's innovative FlexLine product family.

Business Benefits
As part of a data protection solution, FlexLine 600 Series allows customers to reclaim expensive primary storage capacity at an equipment cost savings of at least 75% - without sacrificing performance.
FlexLine 600 Series addresses the greatest cost factor associated with managing online data - storage system resources. Leveraging an easy to use web interface, managers work more efficiently and perform administrative duties less frequently, resulting in a low-touch, cost-effective storage environment.
FlexLine 600 Series enables cost-effective online archiving to make fixed-content data more accessible. This delivers faster access to archived data used in day-to-day operations, increasing its value to business.

Data Protection
As businesses increase their reliance on mission critical applications and the data that feeds them, continuity and availability are key concerns. Leveraging redundant hardware and software for the purpose of protecting data significantly increases storage management costs. The FlexLine 600 Series meets customer requirements for a comprehensive data protection strategy by delivering low touch management capabilities and high performance. Cost-effective disk technology is used to relieve pressure on backup windows, improve reliability of backups, reduce administrative overhead, and enable faster recovery in the event of an unplanned outage. As part of a data protection strategy, the FlexLine 600 Series storage systems are an excellent complement to StorageTek tape drives and libraries.

Archive and Compliance
Given the ever increasing amount of both structured and unstructured data that businesses must retain, protect, and potentially recall to meet both compliance and fiduciary obligations, ensuring that data is available is no longer an after-thought. An archive solution should leverage both capacity centric disk and tape in that neither storage medium alone can adequately meet all reliability and capacity requirements. The FlexLine 600 is a critical component of any archive and compliance solution as both an online repository for data that must be kept immediately at hand, and as an “archive buffer” for data that will eventually migrate to tape.

Fixed-content storage and distribution
Organizations have a real need to decrease costs and improve the performance of fixed-content archive solutions, such as optical disk and legacy tape, by changing the conventional media price to performance paradigm. The FlexLine 600 Series storage systems can replace optical disk or older tape solutions to reduce management costs, while improving performance for retrieving e-mail, medical images, video images, security surveillance images and other rich-media content. When implemented with StorageTek tape solutions, you will enjoy the benefits of a “best practices” tiered storage strategy that provides consistent performance for business applications.

Features and IT BenefitsTop

Lower storage costs
Since a great deal of storage capacity is under-utilized, the old approach of throwing more capacity at storage problems won’t suffice. The ability of FlexLine 600 to greatly reduce the time and effort it typically takes to manage online storage will deliver significant cost savings. Additionally, the system reduces reliance on primary disk and economically utilizes its raw storage capacity to provide significant productivity gains. Policy-based storage administration frees your IT staff to focus on customer facing and revenue-generating activities.

Increase availability
Gain optimum data availability with inherent enterprise-class reliability — enabled by FlexLine 600 Series storage systems' integrated controller architecture, advanced RAID protection, intelligent error handling and background media monitoring. The result is a significant decrease in service events and the frequency with which the system is required to run in a degraded state.

Enhance data protection
Feel confident that as your business grows, your data will be well protected. Additionally, the product’s architecture consolidates backups and reduces overall downtime. FlexLine 600 Series storage systems' reliability and ultra-high throughput performance will help you protect your data within critical backup windows.

Achieve cost-effective and intelligent online archiving
Make your fixed-content data more accessible by storing it online with FlexLine 600 Series storage systems. Faster access allows archived data to be used more in your day-to-day operations, increasing its value to your business. Additionally, the ability to meet regulatory compliance requirements by capturing, protecting and retrieving data is enhanced.
