By converting from 18-track tape drives to StorageTek’s T9840 tape drives and StorageTek’s ExHPDM software, one-user’s offsite storage dropped from 2,600 18-track cartridges, to about 29, 9840 cartridges. Even better, elapsed time dropped from 24 hours to just 7.5 hours per week.
