FlexLine 200 and 300 Series disk systems comprise three parts: controller, arrays and storage management software. Controllers are available in three tiers, ranging from the flagship, high-performance FLX380 and FLX280 enterprise disk controller to the flexible, fully-featured FLX240 mid-range disk controller to the FLX210 entry-level disk controller. The StorageTek FlexLine 200/300 Series product line boasts an assortment of drive arrays designed to marry system performance with customer requirements. Three different arrays - an access-centric Fibre Channel and two capacity-centric ATA offerings - provide the broadest drive configuration possibilities in the industry.

FLX380 enterprise disk controller
The FLX380 storage system is the newest addition to StorageTek's FlexLine family, providing excellent performance in a family of industry-leading technology. The FLX380 storage system integrates 4-gigabit-per-second Fibre Channel connectivity, high-performance Fibre Channel or high-capacity Serial ATA disk drives, and powerful storage management.

The FLX380 storage system continues the FlexLine family's heritage of a modular, building-block design, enabling lower acquisition and expansion costs while maintaining maximum flexibility. The FLX380 controller houses the dual-active, intelligent RAID controllers, provides eight 4-gigabit-per-second host connections and supports up to 224 Fibre Channel or SATA disk drives. Redundant controllers and a host-based failover driver provide automated I/O path protection and enable continued data access.

FLX280 enterprise disk controller
The FLX280 disk system satisfies the most demanding requirements for throughput and transaction processing applications. The system's high performance makes it an ideal solution for high I/O applications, such as ERP, OLTP and general database environments. The FLX280 system also excels in bandwidth-intensive applications, such as video streaming, imaging and seismic processing. The FLX280 system is a full, end-to-end 2-gigabit Fibre Channel storage solution that can support up 224 drives.

FLX240 mid-range disk controller
The StorageTek FLX240 storage system is a perfect mid-range disk system. It provides robust features, scalability and solid performance to help meet the requirements of online applications in a cost-efficient manner. The FLX240 disk system is a full, end-to-end 2-gigabit Fibre Channel storage solution with the business continuity features necessary to manage and protect data today.

The FLX240 controller is available in two configuration options. A drive-limited FLX240 configuration offers superior value and an attractive price point to serve remote office locations or file/print servers. It supports a maximum of 14 Fibre Channel drives. The fully expandable FLX240 is the right choice for smaller database environments or e-mail servers. It can support up 112 drives in any combination of Fibre Channel and/or SATA to meet your performance needs and business requirements.

FLX210 entry-level disk controller
Affordable and cost-effective, the FLX210 provides scalable storage, a small footprint, advanced management features and entry-level pricing in a true enterprise-class disk system. It is a full, end-to-end 2-gigabit storage solution. The FLX210 integrates up to 14 SATA drives into the controller module and supports a maximum capacity of 28 terabytes in 112 SATA drives. It is an ideal storage solution for real-time access to video, images, e-mail, documents and other digital assets.

FlexLine 200/300 Series disk arrays provide the capacity behind all FlexLine 200/300 Series controllers. They can be paired with different controllers for a solution tailored to your specific storage environment. These solutions are modular and flexible to improve your return on investment.

FLA300 access-centric array
For the ultimate in access-centric performance and high availability, the FLA300 improves diagnosis and isolation of drive and loop problems. By allowing a full isolation of drives, the embedded switch technology of the FLA300 eliminates the risk of a single drive disrupting the loop, thereby causing other drives to fail on the loop.

The FLA300 access-centric array has a 2-gigabit-per-second transfer rate and supports up to 14 Fibre Channel drives. The switched design of the FLA300 is specifically targeted for customers with the most demanding environments and stringent reliability requirements, such as large database installations, high-performance computing or government projects. Due to reduced risk of downtime and better response time, the FLA300 is the perfect match for the flagship FLX380/280 controllers.

FLC250 capacity-centric disk array
The FLC250 is StorageTek's highest density disk array and is the right match for disk-to-disk backup, online archive, data replication and fixed-content applications. It is a cost-effective solution for high-capacity storage applications that do not require the random data access performance of the access-centric disk arrays. The FLC250 bridges the gap between high-performance, access-centric disk and tape automation. Throughput is 2 gigabits per second, and it supports up to 10 blades, so capacity can be added quickly and easily in increments of 1.25 terabytes.

FLC200 capacity-centric Array
The FLC200 capacity-centric array is positioned for general purpose ATA applications. It provides a lower cost online storage solution than could be filled by Fibre Channel systems and has more performance than tape or optical devices. It supports 2-gigabit-per-second throughput and 14 single-drive capacity-centric ATA drives allow for granular and scalable growth.
