ApplicationsTop

Disaster recovery
The TimberWolf 9740 library is an integral part of disaster recovery processes that remotely vault data in tape form. Tapes can be physically transported to a remote site, created electronically with a TimberWolf 9740 library at the remote location or created simultaneously at both locations.

Archiving
The TimberWolf 9740 library provides significant capacity in a small footprint for high-volume archiving applications. It can be combined with disk systems and Application Storage Manager (ASM) software to provide a tiered archival system with performance and capacity customized to the archiving needs of the application.

Backup and restore
The TimberWolf 9740 library’s capacity and footprint make it ready for backup and restore of large, multi-platform environments. The TimberWolf can be used to consolidate backup and restore to a single library, reducing costs and simplifying management.

BenefitsTop

Higher resource utilization
With the addition of the StorageTek Virtual Storage Manager® (VSM®) system you can use nearly 100 percent of the capacity of your tapes, unleashing the value trapped in under-utilized tapes.

Scalability for growth
The cartridge exchange mechanism enables you to attach up to six 9740 libraries to allow your storage capacity to grow to 175 terabytes of native data.

Investment protection
The TimberWolf 9740 library supports a wide variety of tape technologies, enabling you to choose the right drives and media for your changing application needs.

Streamlined management
Maintain control of your data with many compatible software tools, including the StorageTek Automated Cartridge System Library™ software (ACSLS Manager™ software ) for client-server environments.

FeaturesTop

Multi-drive support
The 9740 library supports a wide range of drives, including StorageTek T9840 and T9940, DLT, standard 36-track, ETape, TimberLine™ EETape and RedWood SD-3 drives.

Advanced rotational robotics
Accurate, high-speed rotational robotics enable fast cartridge exchanges, high cartridge volume, higher reliability and easy access.

System integration
The 9740 library connects to more than 40 popular client-server and enterprise mainframe environments.

Unique visioning system
A camera-based vision system development by StorageTek facilitates critical calibration functions and tape cartridge bar code reading.
