Posted by Liz These two scenes were omitted from the final version of "The Longest Day". They involve Andie and Will and their developing kind-of-relationship, and give some more insight into the character of Will. The first one would have occurred right before Andie runs into Pacey in the library in Act 1 (we actually get to see Will ask her out, instead of just hearing about it). The second one came at the end of Act 4, in between the scene where Dawson tells Joey to leave, and where Dawson and Jen talk in his room. It gives a little more resonance to the whole "Orpheus and Euridice" myth that Will spun for Andie in the rowboat. If you have a website and are considering posting these, I'd appreciate it if you contact me for permission, first. Thanks! ACT 1, SCENE 5 INT. CAPESIDE PUBLIC LIBRARY - DAY (DAY 1) Andie and Will on a mission. She flips through a book... ANDIE So what we need here is a disease which would explain why you never returned from spring break. WILL Nothing too life-threatening, but definitely contagious. Otherwise, I can forget about... ANDIE About what? WILL Changing my life. Changing my future. There's a boarding school in New Rawley. Best prep school in the country, actually. And they only give out one scholarship a year. I know it's a major long shot. ANDIE Maybe not. From what you've told me about your life, seems like you're due for a break. Anyway, you can't hide out in Capeside forever. She looks at him. Understands how important this is. Then... WILL You wouldn't want to grab dinner, maybe hang out or something tonight? ANDIE That sounds suspiciously like a date in sheep's clothing. WILL I'm such a gutless wonder. Asking without really asking. Feel free to answer without really answering. ANDIE Consider it done. Andie starts walking away. WILL Is that a yes or a no? ANDIE Pick me up at eight, I'll let you know. Feeling slightly jazzed from getting asked out, Andie walks off around a corner, where she promptly runs smack into... [Scene continues where she talks to Pacey, as aired] ACT 4, SCENE 36 EXT. MCPHEE HOUSE - NIGHT Will is dropping Andie off. But she just sits there, not wanting to open the car door. Not wanting to do anything. ANDIE Not your typical first date, huh? WILL Who wants to be typical? I'd rather be memorable. ANDIE Well, you got that all right. WILL For what it's worth... I would like to try it again sometime. I mean I'd understand if you said no. I'd even understand why you said no. ANDIE I was so close, you know. So close to starting over. And then I just... looked back. Will knows this story. In fact, he told this story. They sit a moment longer before Will adds softly. WILL You can, y'know... ANDIE What? WILL Cry, if you want to. I know we hardly know each other, but I'd understand. His sweetness allows Andie the opportunity to let go. And as she begins to cry, Will offers his shoulder and all the comfort a new friend can give.
