THE WB’s “YOUNG AMERICANS” SET TO PREMIERE FOLLOWING “DAWSON’S CREEK” ON JULY 12

New York, NY (May 16, 2000) — The WB’s upcoming summer series YOUNG AMERICANS will premiere on Wednesday, July 12 in the post-Dawson’s Creek” time period at 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET, it was announced today by Susanne Daniels, President, Entertainment for The WB.

Currently in production in the Baltimore, MD area, YOUNG AMERICANS stars an exciting cast of newcomers, including Rodney Scott, who recently appeared in three episodes of “Dawson’s Creek” as a special cross promotion between the two shows as Will Krudski, a long-lost friend of Pacey (Joshua Jackson) who escapes his troubled home life with a visit to his former hometown of Capeside, Mass. On YOUNG AMERICANS, Will is a local boy on scholarship at New England boarding school Rawley Academy, discovering that he can’t hide the fact that he’s completely out of his element.

The series also features Mark Famiglietti (“Hang Time”) as the Kennedy-esque Scout Calhoun, Kate Bosworth (“Remember the Titans”) as the luminous local girl Bella Banks, Ian Somerhalder as the edgy Dean’s son Hamilton Fleming, Katherine Moennig as the aloof and mysterious Jake Pratt, and new cast member Edward Quinn as Finn, the teacher who hopes to inspire them.

The provocative new one-hour drama delves into what happens when blue blood meets blue collar and town clashes with gown, where kids who come from different pasts and face different futures are thrown together to prepare for the rest of their lives. YOUNG AMERICANS was created by feature film writer Steven Antin (“Inside Monkey Zetterland”), who serves as executive producer along with Joe Voci and Scott Sanders. The series is produced by Mandalay Television in association with Columbia TriStar Television.
