Cast Interviews from TheWB.com
Posted by Liz

I already posted the interview with Mark Famiglietti, so click here to read it!

From TheWB.com:

Rodney Scott

With his boyish good looks and easy going charm, Rodney Scott is the home town boy who's definitely going places.

TheWB: What was it like on the set of Dawson's Creek?

Rodney Scott: Wow, it was such a long time ago. It was a lot of fun, they all made me feel really comfortable. It was a good time.

TheWB: What made you decide to drop out of school and become an actor?

RS: There was no one defining moment, I just thought about it one day, and kept thinking about it. I just decided to do it. I think it was more of an excuse to get out of school and follow a wild dream.

TheWB: What is your dream role?

RS: One of two characters: Steve McQueen or Chet Baker. I would never actually play Steve McQueen, nobody could do him better, but I'd love to redo one of his movies.

TheWB: How would you describe Young Americans?

RS: You can't compare it to any other teen dramas on TV. The other shows set the standard, but our show takes it a step further. It's about real life. I think all different generations will like it, it's about trying to make your own path in the world. It involves things a lot of people deal with every day.

TheWB: Are you anything like Will Krudski?

RS: There's a lot of Will in myself. I think overall Will realizes that he's just going through life. Life's about making mistakes and learning from them, we're not perfect, I'm not perfect. I've made mistakes that I thought were the right thing at the time. Will and I are both trying to leave a place we grew up but not forget the people there.

TheWB: On the show, your character is part of an embarrassing initiation ritual, have you ever had to go through anything like that?

RS: Unfortunately, no. If I had then I could have done it to somebody when I was older.

TheWB: What do you usually do on your day off?

RS: I usually go play golf, try to read a little bit, watch TV and just relax. Sometimes we'll go to a pool and lounge around, really just feel like lazy worthless bums.

TheWB: What one thing would you bring to a deserted island?

RS: Water. I'd have to say water. If I thought I was going to die anyway, I'd bring my family, and have them bring water.

TheWB: If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?

RS: I would be 10 years old at thanksgiving dinner at my grandmother's house with all my family there. I'd like to just be there with my whole family stuffing my face.

TheWB: What is the worst job you've ever had?

RS: I'm lucky, I never had a bad job. Every job I've had I enjoyed or found that it was helpful at the time.

Kate Bosworth

With her natural beauty and infectious laugh, Kate Bosworth is the girl next door that every boy dreams about.

TheWB: Your first film was The Horse Whisperer. What was it like working with Robert Redford on your first acting job?

Kate Bosworth: It was weird, because the first director you work with is a legend, but he totally puts you at ease. He's very down to earth.

TheWB: Things have happened rather quickly for you, how has your life changed?

KB: I kind of have two worlds. When I go home I'm in High School, and dealing with that. Then there's the whole Hollywood thing. I feel like I'm an adult and a teenager at the same time.

TheWB: I've heard you love to ride, do you have your own horse?

KB: I'm a junior right now, and I rode up until the beginning of my junior year. I never owned a horse, but I've leased a few, its kind of like owning one.

TheWB: Are you anything like Bella? Can you fix cars?

KB: Yeah, I'm a lot like her in some ways -- she's really strong willed, determined, independent. If I had to sum up myself I would use those words. She's very gaurded and I'm not really like that, life's too short you can't put up guards like that. We're both pretty witty. I just got my license, so I can't fix a car, but I'm kind of learning from filming.

TheWB: You took time off from acting to live "a normal life", were you at all scared that you might not be able to get back into it easily?

KB: Its never really been my life's passion, when it is its heartbreaking when you don't get jobs - it doesn't bother me as much. I'm glad I did it, when I wanted to get back into it I knew it was the right time. I thank my lucky stars every day that it worked out.

TheWB: How does your family feel about your success?

KB: They keep me so down to earth its amazing! My mom used to be in the entertainment business in a way, so she's my mentor/advisor. My dad always says, "If you get a big head I'm going to yank you right out!"

TheWB: Are you planning to go to college when you graduate?

KB: I've been looking at schools, but it depends on the show and where I am career wise. I want to go at some point. I'm looking at schools on the West Coast because that's where I grew up.

TheWB: What do you think you'll major in?

KB: I have no idea at this point - I probably won't do drama because it's my job. I've been taking psychology and I think it's really interesting, so that's a possibility.

TheWB: What is your dream job?

KB: I was watching TV and I saw something about this woman who travels around to five star resorts and writes about them, its all paid for, wouldn't that be great?! Of course this is job isn't so bad!

TheWB: What advice do you have for people your age that want to get into acting?

KB: Anything's possible. If you really want it just go for it, trust your instincts and be true to yourself. Its really important to be true to yourself.

Ian Somerhalder

With piercing blue eyes and driving ambition, Ian Somerhalder seems to be able to achieve anything he sets his sights on.

TheWB: How did you get into modeling?

Ian Somerhalder: I started when I was 10. I wanted things all the time, and my parents wouldn't give in for everything. I was brainstorming on ways to make money and my mom came up with the idea. I got a great agent and a contract. When I was 15, I went to work in Europe by myself.

TheWB: What was it like spending your summers working in NY at such a young age?

IS: It was wonderful. It was such a great balance between the city of New York and the area where I grew up. New York is such a melting pot, it's very European, it's so different from Louisiana.

TheWB: How did you make the transition from model to actor?

IS: I just realized what I wanted to do and figured out the sacrifices I would have to make. I had to stop working and start studying.

TheWB: Tell me a little bit about Hamilton Fleming...

IS: He is the dean's son and he's grown up around the school. He knows every nook and cranny, he was the kid creeping behind the bushes with binoculars. Now he goes there and he wants to show everyone what he knows.

TheWB: What do you do in your free time?

IS: I'm writing a screenplay right now, so I'm usually working on that.

TheWB: What are you writing about?

IS: A parody of beauty I would say. It's a feature done in a format that's never been done before, I can't really explain it. I guess we'll see...

TheWB: Where would you like to go from here?

IS:I want to write and direct and produce, but I definitely want to act for a while. I'd like to do features. I want to become good at what I'm doing and get great projects.

TheWB: If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be?

IS: I would probably be sitting on the water in Bali with my laptop writing the screenplay, or I'd be sitting on a horse thinking about writing the screenplay.

TheWB: What would you say is your biggest weakness?

IS: I kind of think too much, I try do too many things at once.

TheWB: If your ruled the world what would you change first?

IS: I'd get rid of hostility and bad writing.

Katherine Moennig

From the stage to the screen, Katherine Moennig has the rampant enthusiasm and contagious smile that can knock you right off your feet.

TheWB: Are you anything like Jake?

Katherine Moennig: Yeah, I guess so, I think everything you play has something of yourself in it. I don't know if I'd have the courage to do what she did...

TheWB: Your character has a "dirty little secret", does it make your job harder?

KM: I learned that what makes it difficult is playing two exact opposites at the same time, but other than that its so much fun.

TheWB: You worked in theater for a while. Besides the obvious, what are the main differences between theater and Television?

KM: In television you can do a lot of takes, so if you don't get the moment right you can try again. In theater you get one shot, if you don't get it the first time that's it.

TheWB: How did you like working behind the scenes in the theater?

KM: It's a pain in the ass actually, its really hard work. Doing stuff behind the stage is the hard part, acting is the easy part. I have a lot of respect for everyone that works behind the scenes on the show.

TheWB: What's a normal day on the set like?

KM: Wake up at 5:30 or 6:00am, go to the set, get dressed and wait around for three hours for everything to get started, then it's a lot of hard work.

TheWB: Is it anything like the way you pictured it?

KM: Yeah, it actually is. I love working on film, I haven't done a lot and it's fascinating.

TheWB: Where do you want to go from here?

KM: I'd like to see how the show goes, and if goes well do another 13. Eventually I'd like it to lead to film work.

TheWB: Growing up, did your parents steer you towards the arts, or did you get there on your own?

KM: They didn't push me to anything but when I made that decision they were really supportive.

TheWB: What would you be doing if you weren't acting?

KM: Realistically, if I wasn't acting I'd probably just be finishing college. I'd probably be graduating from some state school I hated and not really know what I was going to do.

TheWB: What would you have majored in?

KM: I think I would have majored in Marine Biology or I'd want to study to go into the FBI.

TheWB: What is the one thing that you can't live without?

KM: My friends and family.
