Unlike owning an immensely popular collector car such as a Chevy or Ford, owning a car less collected presents a real challenge finding parts. Usually it's not as simple as going to a parts supplier's website, entering your part request and being able to purchase it straight away. No, finding parts for the more obscure cars involves a lot of effort and sleuthing. Sometimes mechanical parts are shared with the more popular cars from the same parent company and it's a matter of confirming the interchangeability. Trim parts need to be sourced from wreckers or custom-manufactured since they are not reproduced. Sometimes you just have to make your own parts.
This section of TheBigM.info lists the various parts that I have hunted down for my 1958 Mercury Park Lane and where I sourced them from.
Front Engine Mounts |
These are remanufactured by Jerry Lasseigne specifically for the 1958 Edsel with 410ci engine, however, they are identical to those used in the 1958 Mercury Park Lane. Cost includes refundable core charge. E-mail: jercon1936 at hotmail.com |
