StorageTeks Advanced Product Testing (APT) services can reproduce any natural or unnatural disaster to help you design products and packaging tough enough to make it to their destination and meet standards requirements. We employ vibration, shock, altitude and temperature/humidity tests machines to perform evaluations on products and package systems. Testing is performed in accordance with NEBS, ASTM, ISTA, MIL-SPEC 810, RTCA/DO-160, UN/DOT HAZ-MAT and other specifications.
Data acquisition | Capture dynamic field, customer site, and test specimen response data using state-of-the-art portable data acquisition systems. This data is reduced with analysis systems and transformed into power spectral densities, shock response spectra, and other defined units by way of various precision engineering functions. |
Mechanical evaluation | Evaluate the mechanical stability of a product during the prototype phase to increase a product's reliability, enhance quality and reduce costs. |
Engineering analysis | Service includes seismic qualification, acoustic research and measurement, and heat transfer/thermal stress testing. |
Fragility assessment | Fragility analysis to determine the maximum mechanical shock levels the product can withstand before damage occurs. Following fragility assessment, engineers assess the results and develop the most cost-effective package. |
Material evaluation | These tests result in a cushion curve describing the shock characteristics of a cushion material and amplification/attenuation plots describing the vibration characteristics of the same material. |
Prototyping | Fabrication of a variety of packages such as corrugated, wood, and cushioning materials. |
Vibration and shock analysis | A wide variety of vibration and shock analysis are available ranging from test input controls to response measurement. Data may be recorded or provided as in-house laboratory simulations. |
Coatings testing | Perform industry-recognized standard evaluation and testing of all types of coatings. This includes quality control testing of organic coatings, functional testing of inorganic coatings, color control, appearance standards, and many other services. |
Dynamic testing | Laboratory dynamics tests are performed on samples under controlled conditions, either as single tests or as a combination of several tests. The items evaluated may range from individual miniature components to completed, assembled units. Tests include: Acceleration, Compression, Fatigue, Mechanical - including Instron testing for tensile stress/strain measurements, Rotational Shock, Shock and SRC, Tilt/Tip, and Vibration. |
Environmental Simulation | Determines a product's ability to perform during or after exposure to a specific environment. These tests are used to prove a product's integrity, verify manufacturer's claims regarding operational limits, determine realistic warranty terms, and prepare procedures on proper and safe operation. Tests include altitude, electrical, flammability, humidity, sand and dust, solar heating and radiation, temperature, and many others. |
HALT, HASS, ESS and HAST | HALT, HASS, and ESS stress systems allows manufacturers to quickly and comprehensively determine the true operating limits of their products, enabling them to reduce costs, improve product reliability, accelerate time to market and reduce warranty costs. |
HAZMAT testing | Testing and certification of packages to determine transportation stresses. This includes the certification of packages designed to carry hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and packages designed for shipment by commercial carriers. The Advanced Product Testing lab has been testing the safety of containers for worldwide distribution for over 20 years and is certified as a DOT-approved third party testing facility. |
Seismic testing (Earthquake simulation) | A full range of testing from Zone 1 through 4 for products such as appliances, surgical/medical, diagnostic, manufacturing, structural, data processing equipment, as well as many others. |
Transportation simulation | Simulate conditions encountered during transportation and storage of products in boxes or packages. We can also test products that must operate under mobile conditions. Three-channel output can be produced to measure simultaneous multi-axis responses. Hard copy or magnetic media data can be provided. |
